About Us

FoSP is an independent not-for-profit organisation originally formed in 2005. Stamford Park is owned and managed by Trafford Council. FoSP works with One Trafford (a partnership between Trafford Council and their contractor Amey) in order to maintain and improve Stamford Park for the local community. Its aims include restoring heritage features, increasing both environmental value and community involvement, enhancing facilities and promoting sports in a safe and accessible setting. To help further these aims, we are developing links with local schools, groups and organisations that have an interest in the park.

FoSP does not own or run Stamford Park – that is the responsibility of the council. However, we are a ‘voice’ for park users and wish to involve as many people as possible. In conjunction with the council and other stakeholders, we are creating a management and improvement plan which will restore Stamford Park to its former glory while ensuring it has appropriate facilities for the 21st century.

FoSP is a self-financing organisation. We raise funds via a variety of methods: Donations from park users, the sale of duck seed (from the Little Deli on Stamford Park Road), fundraising collections in Tesco Altrincham, match day collection at Altrincham Football Club , FOSP cake sales and profit from community events. These funds allow us to buy plants and shrubs, maintain the defibrillator, buy garden equipment, finance small-scale family events and cover the cost of FOSP administration. With the approval of Trafford Council, donations allow us to make small-scale improvements to the park.

Thank you for your interest and hopefully support!
